Goals

The main aim of the social housing system in the Czech Republic should be to increase access to housing for households that currently homeless and living in uncertain and substandard conditions. Families with children should no longer have to live in substandard housing; children should no longer be seized from their parents due to problems with housing. The social housing system should continue to reduce the number of people without a roof over their heads, living in hostels, institutions or socially excluded localities; it should reduce the number of people who have to pay an unreasonably large portion of their income (e.g. significant numbers of the elderly) and should also work preventively in relation to homelessness.
